ANXIETY CANADA

TIME TRAVELLING PIZZA

CREATIVE Director

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Anxiety Canada came to us with the challenge of developing two animated web series that would normalize anxiety for young audiences. We had to cover a variety of mental health topics for kids in a way that was relatable, funny, educational, and all in 2-minute episodes.

After developing and focus-testing multiple ‘pilot’ episodes with consultation from child psychologist Dr. Daniel Chorney, we finally landed on our concepts. For teenage audiences, we created the character of Chris Crust. He’s an average teenager except he’s also a slice of pizza, and he time travels. While present Chris is sensitive and anxious, he’s aided with the counsel of his calm and collected future self, who periodically visits Chris through a time portal to provide reassurance. The absurdity of the premise was juxtaposed with the serious and at times sombre subject matter, all with Chris’s many variations being brought to life by the voice acting of Charlie Demers.
